“Sugar + oxyde firing”

Saura Vignoli is Italian. She lives and works in Faenza, a ceramic city.

The sisters, Ivana and Saura Vignoli opened their ceramic studio (“Bottega Vignoli”) in 1976, after obtaining both the degree of Master of Arts and teacher at the Art Institute of Ceramics “Gaetano Ballardini ” of Faenza.

The stylistic research of the Vignoli sisters   comes from the great tradition of the Renaissance . Their work is highly influenced by the Byzantine period, by the Hispano-Moorish architecture and by the Roman Empire.

These very geometric and / or repetitive decorations can perfectly adapt to modern shapes.

The “Bottega Vignoli” studio’s work is exhibited worldwide and regularly welcomes international artists in residency, in Faenza.

Saura Vignoli has led numerous workshops abroad.

During this  Masterclass workshop, she will introduce you to the specific techniques of decorating and firing “grand feu”. The goal is  to achieve a reduction firing, which will lead to the apparition of luster, thanks to the addition of sugar, during the firing process.

The one-day workshop will focus only on the decoration.
